Unable to send email using Virus Check service

Thank you very much for using Asahi Net.

Some of our users of the Asahi Net Virus Check service reported problems when attempting to send email. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused our users. We performed maintenance on our mail servers in the early hours of Thursday, 17th September in order to resolve this problem, and are now able to report that it has successfully resolved the problem.


1. Affected: Those who are using the Asahi Net Virus Check service and who use Mozilla Thunderbird 38 (Thunderbird) as their email client.
2. Issue: An error message appears at the time of attempting to send email; the email is not sent.
3. Cause: An unconformity between Asahi Net's mail servers and the Thunderbird mail client.

Should you be an affected user, and made a change to the Security Settings of Thunderbird to help resolve the problem, we ask that you now revert the settings back to what they should be for the Asahi Net Virus Check service because the problem has been resolved. The setting can be made as follows:

Thunderbird settings change for users of Virus Check service
1. From the Tools menu, select the Account Settings option.
2. Click the Server Settings option for the Thunderbird account you have created for Asahi Net email.
3. Under Security Settings change the Connection security setting to SSL/TLS and the Authentication Method setting to Encrypted password.
4. Click the OK button.
