NV ADSL modem configuration.

I. Before making the configuration, ensure that...

1. You have entered into a FLET'S ADSL or FLET'S ADSL Entry contract with NTT and have received their NV ADSL modem.

2.You are using the correct Asahi Net Course.

3. You are prepared for connection.

On the day NTT open their service, connect up all equipment provided as instructed by NTT.

II. Configuration

The configuration shown below was made using a computer running Windows XP and Internet Explorer. The firmware version of the ADSL modem was 1.01. The configuration of Macintosh and other operating systems should be the same.

Step 1: Open the setup page

Open a Web browser (Internet Explorer, for example). You must not connect to the Internet yet: you are going to use the Web browser as the means to open up the configuration page of the NV ADSL modem.

Enter http://192.168.1.1 in the address box of the Web broswer, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.

Step 2: Create the Administration password

The first time you go through this procedure you are requested to enter the password with which you want to gain access to the NV modem setup page. Enter the same password in both the Pasuwaado and Pasuwaado sai nyuuryoku boxes. Please make note of the password you choose, otherwise you won't be able to access the ADSL modem setup page again.

Step 3: Complete the quick setup wizard

Click the ADSL modemu naizou ruutaa radio button.

An entry in the Setsuzoku saki mei box is optional. If you like, enter Asahi Net.

In the Setsuzoku saki uuzaamei box, enter your Asahi Net User ID@atson.net.
* Enter your User name in lower case (small) characters.
E.g. ab4t-ash@atson.net.

In the Setsuzoku pasuwaado box, enter your Asahi Net password.
* Enter your Password in lower case (small) characters.

Do you have the NVIII ADSL modem?
If so you will also see a Furettsu Sukuwea setsuzoku (FLET'S Square connection) option. Leave it as Settei shinai (don't set).

Click the Settei button.

A window will appear to notify you that the setup is taking place, and asking you to wait for up to 30 seconds. Please wait.

A window will appear to notify you that the setup has completed. Please verify that the PPP light on your modem has come ON an solid before clicking this OK button.

Your computer should now be connected to the Internet. Try viewing Web pages and using other Internet services such as email.

III. Confirming settings.


How to confirm the settings that you have made

Open a Web browser (Internet Explorer, for example). You are going to use the Web browser as the means to open up the configuration page of the NV ADSL modem.

Enter 192.168.1.1 in the address box of the Web browser, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.

A Network Password Login box will appear.

In the Uuzaa mei box enter user. This should be entered in lower case.

In the Pasuwaado box enter the Administration password you created when you first opened the setup window of the ADSL modem. This should be entered in lower case.

Click the OK button.

On the left-hand side of the window that appears, you will find a Kihon settei pull down menu. From this menu, select the Setsuzoku saki settei option.

In the window that appears, confirm the settings. It should appear as below, but of course your own Asahi Net User name should be shown on your screen.

a. Name of the connection: optional (eg. Asahi Net)
b. Connection user name: Your Asahi Net User ID@atson.net (eg. ab4t-ash@atson.net)
c. Connection password: Your Asahi Net password.
* Make sure you enter your User name and Password in lower case (small) characters.

d. Automatic IP address allocation: Check the shiyou suru box.
e. Server assigned address: Check the shiyou suru box.
f. Authentication method: Check the angoka sarete inau pasuwaado (PAP) radio button.
g. Automatic cut-off: optional (we recommend you leave it as it is)
h. PPP keep alive function: optional (we recommend you leave it as it is)

Confirm settings

If you do need to make changes, make them, and then click the Settei button, followed by a click of the Touroku button. This will cause the changes to take effect and you will find the NV modem goes through its setup.

On the left hand side, from the Denwa settei (telephone setting) section, choose Denwa shousai settei (detailed telephone settings) option.

Make sure that your screen appears as below. Of particular note are:

If your phone equipment has number display functionality, click the Shiyo suru box.
Shi-gai kyouku ban:
Enter your telephone area code.

If you do need to make changes, make them, and then click the Settei button, followed by a click of the Touroku button. This will cause the changes to take effect and you will find the NV modem goes through its setup.

On the left hand side, from the Jouhou (information) section, choose Genzai no joutai (current state) option.

In the second section, make sure the "Kaisen rink joutai" (line link status) is UP.

Finally, take a look at status of the lamps on the NV ADSL modem. The ADSL, PPP, LAN, and PWR lamps should be fully lit (solid green).

If you have connection to the Internet, you are now ready to Configure the VoIP Equipment so that you can make VoIP calls.
