iOS 11 New Settings

  • This page provides instruction on new settings and deleting settings for iPad (iOS 11.0.)
  • The items referred to with [ ] marks in the instruction are items unique to each customer.
    In actual settings, please replace them with your own information.
  • In the following instruction, an example ID of [ab4t-ash] is shown for Asahi Net ID.

Creating a New Account

Open Settings

Home screen

Choose Settings in the Home screen.

Choose Add Account in Accounts & Passwords.

Choose Other in Add Account.

Choose Add Mail Account.

Input your mail account information following the instruction below, and tap Next at the top right.

Name Arbitrary name  
Email [Your email address] (e.g. asahitaro@asahinet.jp)
Password [Password for your Asahi Net User ID] Input in lowercase
Description Will appear automatically  

Mail Server Setting

Mail Server Setting : New Account

Choose POP in IMAP/POP tab.
Referring to the following charts, input the required information for incoming mail server and outgoing mail server.

INCOMING MAIL SERVER
Host Name pop.asahi-net.or.jp  
User Name [Your Asahi Net User ID] (e.g. ab4t-ash)
Password [Password for your Asahi Net User ID] Input in lowercase
OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
Host Name mail.asahi-net.or.jp
mails.asahi-net.or.jp (*)
* If you are using Email Virus Check Service
User Name [Your Asahi Net User ID] (e.g. ab4t-ash)
Password [Password for your Asahi Net User ID] Input in lowercase

After you have entered the required information, tap Save.
After the input information is saved, the servers you have input will be checked automatically.

Settings after Adding an Account

Choose the account you have added from the ACCOUNTS list in Accounts & Passwords. (e.g. Asahinet)

Information you have input will be shown. Scroll down to OUTGOING MAIL SERVER and tap SMTP.

Choose mail.asahi-net.or.jp under OTHER SMTP SERVERS.

Above is the property window for mail.asahi-net.or.jp. Check to see if it appears the same as below.

Server Slide to ON  
Host Name The Host name you have input will be shown mail.asahi-net.or.jp
User Name Asahi Net User ID you have input will be shown (e.g. ab4t-ash)
Password The password you have input will be shown  
Use SSL Slide to ON  
Server Port 465 Will appear automatically when you set Use SSL to on

If the property appears as shown above, then tap Authentication.

Choose MD5 Challenge-Response in Authentication; confirm that check mark appears on the right side. Then tap mail.asahi-net.or.jp at the top left to go back to the property window for mail.asahi-net.or.jp.

Confirm the settings in Advanced.

Check settings appear the same as above, and then tap the account (e.g. Asahinet) at the top left to go back to the property window.

Go back to the property window then tap Done at the top right to close the window.

Settings are completed.

Delete Account

To avoid any unexpected problem, delete unnecessary account under the following circumstances.

  • There is more than one account in the email software for the same mailbox. (For example, mail account has been recreated, etc.)
  • Account settings for a mailbox that is not used are left in the email software.

Please note that when you delete an account, email messages received in that account will also be deleted.

Choose Settings in the Home screen.

Choose Account to be Deleted

Choose the account you want to delete in Accounts & Passwords.

Scroll down the property window and tap Delete Account.

Choose Delete and the account is deleted.
