The steps to using the service

A NTT East/NTT West FLET'S Hikari fiber-optic line is needed to apply for and use the Hikari TV service. Should you need a FLET'S Hikari line, please apply for the Asahi Net Hikari with FLET'S service and then apply for Hikari TV.

    • Hikari TV compatible tuner can be applied for a rental when applying for Hikari TV subscription.
    • Hikari TV is not available for those customers using PNA device with NTT East/NTT West B FLETfS, FLETfS Hikari Premium (Mansion Type) lines, as it may result in dropping of frames or freezing of screen.
  • Hikari TV service is only available to personal use customers.
  • Hikari TV is only available for application and use within Japan.

Details
  • Hikari TV for Asahi Net monthly charges for the service opening month and the following month are free.
  • Discount of 1000 yen on Hikari TV for Asahi Net monthly charges (from the third to the 24th month.)
  • Tuner rental administrative fee of 1000 yen (tax-excluded) included in the initial fees is waived.
Eligible customers
  • Customers making new application for any of the Oneuchi Plan, TV-Osusume Plan, or Video-Zanmai Plan concurrently with the Ninenwari in this website.
Conditions
  • A subscription of Hikari TV for Asahi Net is required.
  • A minimum usage period (24 months) of Hikari TV for Asahi Net service is specified as a condition to receive the benefits. If a customer cancels Hikari TV service, cancels Asahi Net membership or changes subscription to a service, which is not eligible of the benefits, a penalty charge ( 10000 yen (untaxable)) will be billed.
  • Please note that if the plan is changed to Kihon-Hoso Plan within 24 months counting from the service opening month, the benefit of 1000 yen discount on monthly charges will no longer be applied starting from the month following the month in which the plan is changed.
  • Customers reapplying for the service are not eligible.

IP Retransmission Service of Terrestrial Digital Broadcasts/BS Digital Broadcasts

  • To watch terrestrial digital broadcasts and BS digital broadcasts (hereinafter referred to as gTerrestrial/BS Digital Broadcastsh) a compatible tuner (*1) is required.
  • When compared to standard Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts, there is a slight broadcast delay and it takes a little time to change between channels.
  • When compared to standard Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts, there is a slight delay in displaying data on the screen sent through datacasting. Furthermore, there are cases where standard services of Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts cannot be received, such as in audience participation shows that use bidirectional data broadcast services, may be unable to send ballot results, show the accurate ballot results, and to participate in lotteries or receive prizes, etc.
  • When compared to standard Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts, there is a difference in image quality and deterioration of image quality may occur. A high definition (HD) images are available only when viewed with a HD capable television. It is not possible to view in HD images if you are viewing with a standard definition (SD) quality television.
  • Terrestrial digital broadcasts for mobile phones and mobile devices (one-segment broadcasts) and independent datacasting of BS digital broadcasts are not included in the retransmission service of Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts.
  • For various reasons, Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts on Hikari TV may be ended. In such case, those customers who wish to continue viewing Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts will need to provide at their own cost a television capable of showing Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts, as well as an antenna, etc.
  • NHK Receiving Fees (subscription fees) are not included in Hikari TV charges. You are required to enter into a broadcast receiving contract (a subscription contract) with NHK. (For NHK subscription, please contact NHK call center [phone: 0120-151515] or click here for more information.)
Notes on IP retransmission service of terrestrial digital broadcasts provided by Hikari TV
  • The retransmission service can be viewed in the serviced areas of the retransmission service (*1), and use of an NTT East/NTT West FLET'S Hikari Next (*2) line is required to view the service.
  • Maximum two channels of terrestrial digital broadcasts can be viewed simultaneously with a single NTT fiber-optic line. In order to view the second channel with another TV or to record the program of the second channel with a recorder, you are required to apply for another subscription.
  • Depending on the area you live, there may be differences in the lineup of channels that can be viewed through a direct antenna connection and the channels available through this service.
  • Since the service area of terrestrial digital broadcasts is limited, should you move home or need to or plan to change the line type from B FLET'S or FLET'S Hikari Premium to FLET'S Hikari Next, please contact the Hikari TV Customer Center (phone 0120-001144.)
Notes on IP retransmission service of BS digital broadcasts provided by Hikari TV
  • The BS Digital broadcast service is available throughout Japan. For those customers using a compatible tuner and subscribing either of the Oneuchi Plan, TV-Osusume Plan or Video-Zanmai Plan, the service can be used (excluding Premium channels) regardless of the line type.(*2)
    • Please refer to the Hikari TV website for information about tuners compatible with Terrestrial/BS Digital Broadcasts, and the areas where terrestrial digital broadcasts are available. Please note that depending on facilities and equipment, terrestrial digital broadcasts may not be available even within the service area.
    • The service is not available to users of FLET'S Hikari Next Business Type lines and NTT East FLET'S Hikari Light lines. Please contact NTT East/NTT West on details on service areas of FLET'S Hikari Next line.
