Thunderbird 1.0 - How to add a mail account
Get [ Mozzilla: ] [ Mozzilla Thunderbird: ] These instructions for Thunderbird 1.0 are targeted at dial-up service users. If you are using a broadband service (ADSL or FTTH) you may find some differences between what you see on your screen and the instructions listed below. Please contact ASAHI Net if you are unable to complete the setup of Thunderbird 1.0.
1. Open Thunderbird. Double-click on the Mozzilla Thunderbird icon.
2. Click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings.
3. Click on the Add Account.
Click Next.
5. Identity.
A note about your ASAHI Net email address
Click Next.
6. Server Information.
Enter the Incoming Server: pop.asahi-net.or.jp Click the box for Use Global Inbox (depending on your preference). Click Next.
7. User Names.
Click Next.
8. Account Name.
Click Next.
9. Congratulations!
Confirm that your account settings are correct,
10. The Accounts Settings window will appear showing the new account you have made. Confirm your settings:
Your Name: (eg. Asahi Taro) Email Address: (eg. ab4t-ash@asahi-net.or.jp) Reply-to-Address: (eg. ab4t-ash@asahi-net.or.jp) Other options are arbitrary.
11. Server Settings Click on Server Settings in the left hand section. Confirm your settings:
Server Name: pop.asahi-net.or.jp Port: 995 User Name: (eg. ab4t-ash) Check box Use secure connection (SSL) Other options are arbitrary.
12. Click on the Advanced button.

Check Include this server when getting new mail
13. Click the Outgoing Server (SMTP) link.
Port: 465 User Name: (eg. ab4t-ash) Use secure connection: SSL
14. Click on the Advanced button.
Now click the OK button again and close the Account Settings window. 15. If you are connected to the Internet, click the Get Mail button to download your ASAHI Net email.
