How to add a mail account >> II. How to check your settings. I. How to add a mail account1. Open Thunderbird. Double-click on the Mozilla Thunderbird icon.
2. Click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings.
3. Click on the Add Account button.
4. In the Account Wizard window that pops up, choose Email account. Click Next.
Enter the following information:
Email address the address that you will use with this account.
A note about your ASAHI Net email address
Click Next.
6. Server Information.
Enter the Incoming Server: pop.asahi-net.or.jp Click the box for Use Global Inbox (depending on your preference). Enter the Outgoing Server: mail.asahi-net.or.jp Click Next.
7. User Names.
(in lower case characters). Outgoing User Name: Enter your ASAHI Net User ID (in lower case characters). (eg. ab4t-ash) Click Next.
8. Account Name.
Click Next.
9. Congratulations!
Confirm that your account settings are correct,
10. Upon returning to the main window, an Enter your password window may pop up in order to try downloading your email. Type your password in and click the box to remember your password (this is arbitrary).
II. How to check your settings.
11. Click on the Tools menu and select Account Settings.
12. The Accounts Settings window will appear showing the new account you have made. Click on the account that you want to confirm, eg. ASAHI Net account. Confirm your settings:
Your Name: (eg. Asahi Taro) Email Address: (eg. ab4t-ash@asahi-net.or.jp) Reply-to-Address: (eg. ab4t-ash@asahi-net.or.jp) Other options are arbitrary.
13. Server Settings.
Server Name: pop.asahi-net.or.jp User Name: (eg. ab4t-ash) In the Security Settings section, click the SSL radio button and check the Use secure connection box. Now confirm the above Port and Default values are now 995 Other options are arbitrary.
14. Click on the Advanced button.
Check Include this server when getting new mail Then click OK.
15. Click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) option in the left hand section.
Choose the account that you want to confirm, and click on the Edit button.
16. These settings are required:
Port: 465 User Name: (eg. ab4t-ash) Use secure connection: SSL
17. Now click the OK button again and close the Account Settings window.
18. If you are connected to the Internet, click the Get Mail button to download your ASAHI Net email.
