Mac OSX (10.1) PPPoE Configuration


Mac OSX(10.1) PPPoE configuration for FLET'S ADSL, FLET'S ADSL Entry, B-FLET'S and FLET'S Hikari Next connections.

I. Before making the configuration, ensure that...

1. You are contracted with NTT to use their FLET'S service.

2. You are an ASAHI Net member.

3. You are prepared for connection.
PPPoE connection software in the Mac OSX operating system makes it possible for your computer to connect to NTT's FLET'S services. Do not install the Japanese PPPoE software that you received from NTT, and do not install any other PPPoE software: you do not need other PPPoE software and its presence could cause connection problems.

On the day of NTT opening their service, connect up all equipment provided as instructed by NTT.

II. Configuration.

1. Do one of two things:
1. Go to the Apple menu (top left of screen), then choose System Preferences. You may first need to click on the desktop to do this.
or
2. Click the System Preferences icon on your Dock.

2. Find and click on the Network icon in the Internet & Network section. The Network Panel will open.

3. Click the arrow on the Location box and choose New Location.
Enter a name for this connection (eg, FLET'S ADSL), then click the OK button.

4. Click the arrow on the Show box and choose Built-in Ethernet.

5. Click on the PPPoE tab.

6. Click the Connect using PPPoE box.

7. In the Service Provider box enter a name, e.g. ASAHI Net.

8. Leave the PPPoE Service Name box empty.

9. In the Account Name box, type your ASAHI Net User ID followed by "@atson.net"
* Enter your User name in lower case (small) characters
(e.g. ab3c-defg@atson.net).

10. Enter your ASAHI Net password in the Password box.
* Enter your Password in lower case (small) characters

11. If you require the computer to remember your password, check the Save password box.

12. If you require the computer to show your PPPoE Status, check the box for Show PPPoE status in menu bar.

13. Click the PPPoE Options button.

14. Under Session Options check the box for Connect automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.

15. The other boxes under the Session Options heading should be checked based on the way you want to use the Internet.

16. Under Advanced Options make sure the Send PPP echo packets box is checked.

17. Click OK.

18. Click on the TCP/IP tab.

19. Click the arrow on the Configure box and choose Using PPP.

20. In the Domain Name Servers box, type these DNS server addresses:

202.224.32.1
202.224.32.2

21. In the Search Domains box, type asahi-net.or.jp.

22. Click on the Proxies tab.

23. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked and empty.

24. Click the Apply Now button, then Close the window.

You are now ready to attempt to connect your Mac to the Internet.

III. Connection.

1. On your desktop, find and double-click the Hard Drive icon.

2. Double-click the Applications folder.

3. Double-click the Internet Connect application.

4. Ensure the Configuration box shows Built-in Ethernet.

5. If you require, click the Edit button to make changes to the settings that appear.

6. Click the Connect button. A connection should be established between your computer and the Internet.

7. Open your browser, and start viewing Web pages.
