


Mac OSX Dial-Up Configuration

I. Configuration.
1. Do one of two things:
a. Go to the Apple menu (top left of screen), then choose
System Preferences. You may first need to click on the desktop to do
this.
or
b. Click the System Preferences icon on your Dock.
2. Find and click on the Network icon in the Internet
& Network section. The Network panel will open.
3. Click the arrow on the Location box and choose New
Location. Enter a name for this connection, then click O.K.
4. Click the arrow on the Show box and choose Internal Modem
if that is the connection device you are using, or choose the name of the
connection device you are using.
5. Click on the TCP/IP tab.
6. Click the arrow on the Configurebox and choose Using PPP.
7. In the Domain Name Servers box, type these DNS server addresses:

8. In the Search Domains box, type asahi-net.or.jp.
9. Click on the PPP tab.
10. In the Telephone Number field, enter the
ASAHI Net access point number to be
dialed.
11. In the Account Name field, type your ASAHI Net User ID followed
by "@atson.net".
(e.g. ab3c-defg@atson.net.)
12. Enter your ASAHI Net password in the Password box.
13. If you require the computer to remember your password, check the box
for Save password.
14. Click the PPP Options button.
15. Under Session Options check the box next to Connect
automatically when starting TCP/IP applications.
16. The other boxes under the Session Options heading should be
checked based on the way you want to use the Internet.
17. Under Advanced Options make sure the Send PPP echo
packets and Use TCP header compression boxes are checked.
18. Click OK.
19. Click on the Proxies tab.
20. Uncheck all the boxes.
21. Click on the Modem tab.
22. Click the arrow on the Modem box and choose Apple Internal
56K Modem (v.90) if that is the connection device you are using, or choose
the name of the connection device you are using.
23. In the Dialing section, choose Tone or Pulse based
on what type of telephone line you have. Wait for dial tone before
dialing is usually checked.
24. Check the box next to Show modem status in menu bar.
25. Click the Apply Now button to fix these settings in your OSX.
26. Close the Network window.
You are now ready to connect your Mac to ASAHI Net.
II. Connection.
1. Double-click the Internet Connect application on your dock.
If you do not see this icon in your dock, you can find it in your Applications folder.
a. On your desktop, find and double-click the Hard Drive
icon.
b. Double-click the Applications folder.
c. Find and double-click the Internet Connect application.
2. Ensure the Configuration box shows Internal Modem.
3. If you require, click the Edit button to make changes to
the settings that appear.
4. Click the Connect button. A connection should be
established between your computer and the access point.
Open your browser, and start viewing Web pages.
