Web Caster X400V configuration.

I. Before making the configuration, ensure that...

1. You have entered into a FLET'S contract with NTT and have received their Web Caster X400V.

2. You are prepared for connection.
On the day NTT open their service, connect up all equipment provided as instructed by NTT.
Example setup: FLET'S ADSL modem and Web Caster X400V

(*1) For a Type 2 line, a splitter will not be used.

Example setup: B FLET'S media converter and Web Caster X400V

II. Configuration.

Step 1: Open a Web browser

Open a Web browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape, for example).

You are going to use the Web browser as the means to access the configuration pages of the Web Caster X400V.

Enter http://192.168.1.1 in the address box of the Web broswer, then hit the Enter key on your keyboard.

Step 2: Create the Administration password

You must create a password with which you will access the Web Caster X400V configuration pages.

The Shouki settei (initial settings) screen will appear.

Enter a password of your choice in both the Atarashii Pasuwaado (new password) and Atarshii Pasuwaado kakunin (confirm new password) boxes. Enter the same password in both boxes. Please make note of the password you created as you will need to use it later in this configuration.

In the Eria settei (area selection) box, select the NTT area you are located in: NTT East or NTT West.

Click the Kakunin (confirm) button, followed by the Soushin (send) button.

If the Microsoft Internet Explorer alert displayed below appears, the administration password has been set successfully. Click the OK button.

Step 3: Log-in

If this is the second or consecutive time you are accessing the Web Caster, a log-in window will appear.

Enter admin in lower case characters in the Yuuzaamei (U) (User name) box.
Enter the Administration password in the Pasuwaado (P) (Password) box.
Click the OK button.

Step 4: Setup

The Kantan settei (simple setup) window will appear. Enter the following settings:

a. e-mail adoresu (email address) : Arbitrary
b. Tsuuchi suru jouhou (data to transmit) : Both options are arbitrary

If you want to be notified by NTT via Japanese-language email of security issues (software updates and hacker information) you will complete a and b and press the blue onrainn touroku (online registration) button.
c. Setsuzoku yuuza mei (User name) :Enter your ASAHI Net User ID@atson.net
* Enter your User name in lower case (small) characters.
(eg. ab4t-ash@atson.net)
d. Setsuzoku pasuwaado (Password) : Enter your ASAHI Net password.
* Enter your Password in lower case (small) characters.
e. Setsuzoku pasuwaado kakunin (Password confirmation) : Re-enter your ASAHI Net password.

f. Nanbaadisupurei (Number display) :
* If your telephone set does not support number display, leave this as Nashi (none)
* If your telephone set does support number display, choose Ari (have)
g. Kyacchi hon (Catch phone) :
* If you are not using your telephone company's catch phone service, leave this as Nashi (none)
* If you are using your telephone company's catch phone service, choose Ari (have)
h. Click the Kakunin (confirm) button, followed by the Soushin (send) button.

Step 5: Re-starting the router

Click the Hanei (amend) button.

The Microsoft Internet Explorer alert that appears will ask you if you want to re-start the router. Click the OK button.

Note: If you click the OK button while you are on the phone, the WebCaster X400V will not re-start, so first hang up. If you are on the phone and you click the OK button, you will be shown a different window. Click the Modoru (return) button on that window.

Step 6: Confirming settings

From the left side Ruuta Settei (Router settings) menu, choose the PPPoE Settei (PPPoE settings) option.

The PPPoE settei (PPPoE settings) window will appear. Confirm the following settings:

a. Setsozoku saki 1 de setsuzoku suru (Connect with connection 1) : Setsuzoku suru (Connect).
b. Setsuzoku yuuza mei (User name) : Your ASAHI Net User ID@atson.net
* Enter your User name in lower case (small) characters.
(eg. ab4t-ash@atson.net)
c. Setsuzoku pasuwaado (Password) : Your ASAHI Net password.
* Enter your Password in lower case (small) characters.
d. Setsuzoku pasuwaado kakunin (Password confirmation) : Your ASAHI Net password.

e. Kakunin houshiki (Authentication): PAP
* If using NTT's FLET'S Hikari Next service, click the CHAP radio button.
f. Mutsuushin kanshi taima (non-communication surveillance timer) : Mukou (Disable).
g. DNS Server Address: both boxes are blank.
h. MTU: 1452
i. IP adoresu settei: Settei shinai (Do not set).

If you change a setting, take these steps:
Click the Kakunin (confirm) button, followed by the Soushin (send) button.
Click the Hanei (amend) button.
When the Microsoft Internet Explorer alert appears, click the OK button.

Step 7: Confirming an Internet connection

Click the left side Joutai hyouji (display status) option.

The Joutai hyouji (display status) window will appear.

Against the PPPoE joutai settei (sesshon 1) (PPPoE session 1) entry you will see Seijou (normal).
This indicates that the Internet connection has been established.

Finally, take a look at status of the lamps on the Web Caster X400V.

The POWER lamp should be green.
The PPP lamp should green.
The WAN lamp should green.

You should now be able to view Web pages, send and receive email, etc.
If you can't, and if the status of the lamps are different to what is shown, please go through the configuration of the Web Caster X400V again.
