FTP 2000 Tutorial

This tutorial will explain how to configure FTP 2000 and how to use it to upload your files to your personal homepage space on ASAHI Net's server.
1. Configuration
Double-click the Ftp2000 icon. This screen will appear:
Click on the Connect button to bring up the Site Manager, which will look like this:
Click on the Add Site button, and you will then see the following screen,
which you should fill out as below.
Make sure the Site Name reads ASAHI Net, and the FTP Host Address field reads netftp.asahi-net.or.jp.
Of course, you should replace ab3c-defg with your ASAHI Net User ID, and type your ASAHI Net password in the password field.
Then, press OK. The Description field can be
left blank, although you can write something like Homepage upload site if you wish.
After you
press OK, your screen will look like this:
2. Connecting to ASAHI Net
Press Connect. After connection, you will get the following message:
Reloading Directory Info...
Setting directory
250-You are in your ftp root directory.
250 "/" is new directory.
In the upper right hand corner of the screen, you will see two buttons,
Connect and Refresh. In the space to the left of the Refresh button, you will see a white field with nothing but a / in it.
Add homepage after the slash, so it reads /homepage. Then click on Refresh. This
will change your remote directory (the directory of files on our servers) to your homepage directory, and it will then list all the files currently in your homepage
directory. At first, you will only see [Parent Folder] there.
The left hand side of the window is a reflection of your current "local"
folder -- that is, the one on your computer. The right hand side of the
window shows you what files you have in your "remote" folder
-- that is, the one on our server.
To find the correct folder on your computer, click on [Parent Folder] in the left hand side, and then navigate as you would normally when looking to open a folder.
3. Uploading
In order to move files from your computer to our servers (uploading),
just use your mouse to select files from the left hand side, and drag them
to the right hand side. When it asks you to confirm the upload, say yes.
If the upload goes well, you will see your file(s) appear on the right
hand side of the screen. That's it!
Note: Make sure that the main file of your personal homepage
is named either index.htm or index.html.
4. Miscellaneous functions
You can delete or rename files on the server. Use your mouse to select
a file or files on the server, and press the right mouse button for a list
of possible functions. Choose delete or rename accordingly.
