Hikari T-Series Home/Mansion Service
Mac OSX (10.4) PPPoE Configuration


I. Before making the configuration, ensure that...

1. You are contracted with KDDI to use their Hikari T-Series Home/Hikari T-Series Mansion service.

2. You are an ASAHI Net member.

3. You are using the correct ASAHI Net Course.

4. You are prepared for connection.
PPPoE connection software in the Mac OSX (10.4) operating system makes it possible for your computer to connect to the Hikari T-Series services. Do not install any other PPPoE software: you do not need other PPPoE software and its presence could cause connection problems.

On the day of KDDI opening their service, connect up all equipment provided as instructed by KDDI.

II. Configuration.

1. Do one of two things:

a). From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.

b). Click the System Preferences icon on your Dock.

2. Double-click the Network icon in the Internet & Network section.

3. Click the arrow on the Location box and choose New Location.
Enter a name for this connection (eg, KDDI), then click the OK button.

4. Click the arrow on the Show box and choose Built-in Ethernet.

5. Click the PPPoE tab.

6. Click the Connect using PPPoE box.

7. In the Service Provider box enter a name of your choice, e.g. ASAHI Net.

8. In the Account Name box, type your ASAHI Net User ID followed by @atson.net.
For example, ab3c-defg@atson.net.

9. Enter your ASAHI Net password in the password box.

10. Leave the PPPoE Service Name box empty.

11. If you require the computer to remember your password, check the Save password box.

12. If you require the computer to show you your PPPoE status, check the box for Show PPPoE status in menu bar.

13. Click the PPPoE Options button.

14. Under the Session Options heading, check the Connect automatically when needed box.

15. The other boxes under the Session Options heading should be checked based on the way you want to use the Internet.

16. Under the Advanced Options heading, check the Send PPP echo packets box.
17. Click OK.

18. Click on the TCP/IP tab.

19. Click the arrow on the Configure IPv4 box and choose Using PPP.

20. Leave the DNS Servers box empty.

21. Leave the Search Domains box empty.

22. Click on the Proxies tab.

23. Make sure all the boxes are unchecked and empty.

24. Click the Apply Now button, then close the window.

You are now ready to connect your Mac to the Internet.

III. Connection.

1. Open Internet Connect. You can do this in one of these ways.

a). In the menu bar at the top right hand side, click the

Built-in Ethernet

icon and choose Open Internet Connect....

b). Find and double-click the Hard Drive icon on your desktop.

Click the Applications button, then double-click the Internet Connect icon.

2. In the Built-in Ethernet window you will have the following:

PPPoE Service Provider : ASAHI-Net

Account Name : your ASAHI Net User ID followed by @atson.net.
For example : ab3c-defg@atson.net.

Password : your ASAHI Net password.

Show PPPoE status in menu bar : check at your discretion.

3. Click the Connect button.

Internet Connect

A connection should now be established between your computer and the Internet.
Open your browser, and start viewing Web pages.
