Internet Connection (FTTH and ADSL)

Who This Page Is For

Users of ASAHI Net's FTTH and ADSL services. Please take care with making your settings.

Connecting With 1 PC

Whichever connection service, typically you'll connect using the software already inbuilt in your computer's operating system, or will install some other connection software (NTT's FLET'S Connection Tool, RASPPPoE, etc.)

Typical characteristics of a 1 PC connection

  • Possible to use any of our services
  • An ADSL modem (bridge-type) or ONU (media converter) will need to be connected to your PC's LAN card/LAN board.

Connecting Several PCs While Using A Router

Connection instructions are usually provided with the router. You will either access the router's setup screens via a Web browser (such as Internet Explorer) or install special software. With a router you can give one or more PCs connection to the Internet.

Typical characteristics of a router + several PCs connection

  • Some routers have restricted functionality that may prevent your use of some Internet services, e.g. on-line games.
  • Typically with ADSL services the ADSL modem comes with in-built router functionality.
  • You will use either a router-type ADSL modem or a bridge-type modem plus a broadband router.

Characteristics of a home LAN or office LAN

With a LAN, you'll need a router.

ASAHI Net does not provide technical support for LAN construction. Your understanding is appreciated.
For more about how to construct your LAN, please refer to information on the Web, the maker of the router or the place you purchased the router. Your understanding is appreciated.
