What is the All-Japan Access Point?

The All-Japan Access Point is a dial-up access point that can be connected to from any area of Japan. The telephone dial-up charge for making connections to the All-Japan Access Point is billed by your telephone carrier at their local-call rates. The All-Japan Access Point cannot be connected to by all telephone carriers; please refer to our Carrier Listing for confirmation.

Analog line users will be able to make 56Kbps-capable connections with V.90/K56Flex-capable analog modems. ISDN line users will be able to make 64Kbps synchronous connections, or 128Kbps MP connections (see the Read this before using the access point section below).

How can I connect to the All-Japan Access Point?

These are the steps required.

1. Register for Asahi Net's Expanded Services

Not needed if you joined Asahi Net after March 2002.

No charge is made for registration, however registration is required before connection to the All-Japan Access Point is possible. Please register with the User ID you wish to connect to the All-Japan Access Point with.

An Asahi Net User ID and password is required to register.
Individual members:
Use your Asahi Net User ID (e.g. ab3c-defg) and Asahi Net password.
Business service members:
Use a connection ID (first character "u" or "c") and the associated password for that ID.

Enter your Asahi Net User ID and password when prompted.
Follow the on-screen instructions to Register for expanded services.
Log out of the BBB by clicking Asahi Net Top Page(Exit BBB).

2. Connect

These are the basic settings for the All-Japan Access Point.

  1. The suffix @atson.net is required for connection to the access point, but it is not be needed for Asahi Net's BBB service, POP email, FTP, etc.
  2. Please read the Read this before using the access point section below, especially if your computer is unable to connect to the access point.

About the mode of billing

  • Telephone charges made for connections to the All-Japan Access Point will be billed by NTT East or NTT West (depending on which NTT area you live) - the charge will appear as "NTT Communications". Those using the MyLine or MyLine Plus services through companies other than NTT East or NTT West will also see the telephone charge for use of the All-Japan Access Point listed as "NTT Communications".
  • Those who usually get billed directly by NTT Communications will see the telephone charge for connections listed on their NTT Communications statement.
  • Those who use a mobile phone will see the telephone charge for connections listed on the statement provided by their mobile carrier (NTT DoCoMo, etc.).

How can I check my connections to the All-Japan Access Point?

To check what connections have been made to the All-Japan Access Point and which have been made to Asahi Net's other connection services, please use the link below.

An Asahi Net User ID and password is required.
Individual members:
Use your Asahi Net User ID (e.g. ab3c-defg) and Asahi Net password.
Business service members:
Use a connection ID (first character "u" or "c") and the associated password for that ID.

After you have logged in, click on the "Detailed information of each PPP connection" button and you will see a list of all connections made, and under the "Connection method" heading a description of the type of connection made.

COMMON_NUMBER : All-Japan Access Point.
Domestic PPP : Asahi Net's local access points.
FLET'S ISDN : NTT's FLET'S ISDN service.
Overseas PPP : overseas access points.

Read this before using the All-Japan Access Point

1. When configuring your computer to connect to the All-Japan Access Point, enter your Asahi Net User Name and Password in lower case characters. If you use upper-case characters, the connection will fail.

2. The All-Japan Access Point cannot be used in conjunction with discount telephone services such as NTT's Telehodai service, Time Plus, i-Plan, some discount telephone services of other carriers, etc.

3. Dial-up telephone charges for connection to the All-Japan Access Point will be billed by your telephone company and not by Asahi Net.

4. In general, proxy servers should not be used when connected to this access point. It may be possible to use other company's proxy servers, but that depends on the settings of those proxy servers.

5. Only Asahi Net's SMTP server (mail.asahi-net.or.jp) can be used when connected to the All-Japan Access Point.

6. Users making dial-up connections via a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) and needing to dial a "0" first may find that they cannot connect to the All-Japan Access Point.

7. A special and important note for ISDN users using a terminal adapter. Please ensure that the terminal adapter driver being used for ISDN connection is 64K synchronous. It is possible to make MP (MultilinkPPP) 128Kbps connection to the All-Japan Access Point if the terminal adapter driver is not set to 64K synchronous, however such connections will be charged as if two (2) lines are in use: usage charge and telephone charges will be doubled. Please take great care if making such a connection, as Asahi Net will not refund charges made in such cases. If wanting to make a 128Kbps connection, the access point telephone number should be 186-0570-037-001. We recommend that ISDN users make synchronous 64K connections.

8. The All-Japan Access Point cannot be connected to by all telephone carriers; please refer to our Carrier Listing for confirmation.

9. If staying at a hotel and wanting to use the hotel's telephone line to make the dial-up connection, please check with the hotel as to what their charges will be for your dial-up to the 0570 All-Japan Access Point number before attempting a connection.
