Moving Procedures for au Hikari Courses

If you are using au Hikari and are moving to a new location in Japan, it may be possible to continue using au Hikari at the new location.


Important Notes

  • For those members using au Hikari Giga Value Type
    • If you wish to continue using the au Hikari Giga Value Type or au Hikari Mansion Course at the new location, the contract release charge of 9,975 yen (9,500 yen base) and the remaining initial charges are waived only if Asahi Net's Moving Campaign application form is used. For the form, please contact Asahi Net's English Customer Support. Applications that are not made through Asahi Net's English Customer Support and on the Moving Campaign application form will not be eligible for the waiving of charges.
  • From application to opening of au Hikari service takes approximately 1 to 2 months. Depending on factors such as the condition of your home and the environment around it you may find that it takes even longer.

  • au Hikari Giga Value Type has a two-year contract. The contract is automatically renewed every two years. Should the contract holder cancel Giga Value Type service anytime before the contract expiry month, 9,975 yen (9,500 yen base) will be charged as the contract cancelling fee.


The Moving Procedure In More Detail


1. Check Which Services Are Available At The New Location

Before making an application, please contact Asahi Net in English to request a check of available services for the location you are moving to.

Please supply the full postal address of your new home, including postal code, and if possible a telephone number for the location you want the au Hikari service installed. Please supply your Asahi Net User ID in the form.

After receiving confirmation of the available services, please take one of the following steps.

What situation are you in?

Will apply for the same au Hikari service for the new location >> Continue to Step 3 below
Will apply for a different Asahi Net service for the new location >> Change to other Course
Will move to a location which already has Internet service >> Internet Service Already Installed At Your New Home


2. Change Registered Postal Address

Individual members can change their registered postal address online via Asahi Net's Account Maintenance Web pages.


3. Number Portability

Should you wish to inquire as to whether or not it is possible to move the phone number you have been using for the au Hikari Phone service to NTT East or NTT West's telephone network, please contact NTT.

NTT East's English Customer support telephone is: 0120-364-463

* If your request to continue using your au Hikari Phone number on NTT's network is not completed with NTT it will hold up the move (application) procedure for the au Hikari Course for your new location.

* NTT will charge for number portability.


4. Request Cancellation Of The Current au Hikari Course For The Old Location

You need to request cancellation of the au Hikari Course you are currently using. Please use one of the PDF forms linked below, fill it out and send it to Asahi Net.


5. Apply For au Hikari Service For The New Location

  • For those members using au Hikari Giga Value Type
    • If you wish to continue using the au Hikari Giga Value Type or au Hikari Mansion Course at the new location, the contract release charge of 9,975 yen (9,500 yen base) and the remaining initial charges are waived. Individual members can apply online via Asahi Net's Account Maintenance Web pages for the au Hikari Giga Value Type or au Hikari Mansion Course. The online application is only available in Japanese.


*Read if you have applied for the Giga Value Type / Giga Type:
After receiving your application, KDDI will check to see if the Giga Type service can be supplied to your new location. There is no guarantee that KDDI can open the Giga Type service for you as conditions may prevent it. KDDI will call you with the result of their study and if the result is positive KDDI will notify you of the installation date.


6. Opening Of The Service At The New Location

Representatives of an installation company employed by KDDI will visit your home and install the au Hikari Giga Type service in your presence. You will be provided with the necessary equipment for making the Internet connection.

*If you applied for the au Hikari Mansion course, you don't need to be present for the installation work.
