FTTH with FLET'S In Brief

FTTH with FLET'S is a service combining ASAHI Net's Internet connection service with NTT's fiber-optic FLET'S service; ASAHI Net will bill you for our Internet connection service, NTT will bill you for their fiber-optic line and equipment.

ASAHI Net will take your application for a new NTT East and NTT West's fiber-optic line and pass it to NTT. NTT will contact you about your application and the date on which they will open their line for you. ASAHI Net will supply you with a User Name and password so that you can connect to the Internet.

Campaign Information

These campaigns are open to those who apply for a new NTT B FLET'S line, new FLET'S Hikari Premium line or new FLET'S Hikari Next line when making their FTTH with FLET'S application.

• Home Course: For those living in detached houses or housing complexes (apartment buildings).


• Mansion Course: For those living in housing complexes (apartment buildings) into which NTT have already installed their Mansion type equipment.

Fixed IP Address Option

A Fixed IP Address Option is available to users of a FTTH with FLET'S Course. A fixed IP address is suitable for those who play on-line games, for those wanting to raise the level security of communication between offices using VPN, etc.

A Note About FTTH

FTTH stands for "Fiber To The Home" and is a high-speed Internet connection provided by a fiber-optic network directly to the user's home. We are using the term "FTTH" to cover all fiber-optic connection services offered by ASAHI Net and our partners NTT East, NTT West and KDDI. These services also include Mansion-type fiber-optic services where the fiber-optic cable is supplied to the building the user lives in but may not extend directly into the user's home in that building; instead LAN cabling or telephone cabling inside the building may be used to supply the service into the user's home.

FTTH is a "best-effort" service, therefore factors including line conditions and Internet congestion will cause the speed to be lower: there is no guarantee for the actual speeds that will be achieved through use of this service.

Special Notes For English Speakers

Here is a list of points that should be considered by English speakers and/or people using computers with English-only operating systems.

• Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7/MacOSX: If you have an English Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or MacOSX computer, you are in luck because the software needed (PPPoE) is pre-installed. Visit our Configuration Guide to find the settings for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and MacOSX PPPoE. Please do not install NTT's Japanese software from their CD.


• Routers: If NTT has supplied you with a VoIP router, you may configure it to make the Internet connection instead of using PPPoE in your computer. Visit our Configuration Guide for how to configure the NTT VoIP router step by step, in English, with pictures. The documentation NTT supply with their routers is only available in Japanese.


• There is no English-language documentation provided by NTT for this service.


• NTT's phone call may be in Japanese if NTT do not have sufficient English speaking staff available.

Automatic Configuration Service

The FTTH with FLET'S Automatic Configuration Service is available to those FTTH with FLET'S Home and Mansion Course users in the NTT East area who want their Internet connection configuration and other settings made automatically through the Internet. It is only available to those whose computer has a Japanese-language operating system. There is no English-language documentation or software provided by NTT for this service.
