The steps to using the service

A NTT East/NTT West FLET'S Hikari fiber-optic line is needed to apply for and use the Hikari TV service. Should you need a FLET'S Hikari line, please apply for the Asahi Net Hikari with FLET'S service and then apply for Hikari TV.

Conditions

  • The following are required to use this service.
    yCustomers in the NTT East areaz
    • B FLET'S or FLET'S Hikari Next Family Type/Mansion Type.
    • A Hikari TV-compatible tuner or a store-bought television set which is enabled with Hikari TV tuner functionality, etc.
    yCustomers in the NTT West areaz
    • A FLET'S Hikari Premium, FLET'S Hikari Next Family Type/Mansion Type or B FLET'S line.
    • The FLET'S V6 Appli service (not required if using a FLET'S Hikari Premium, FLET'S Hikari Next Family Type/Mansion Type line).
    • A Hikari TV-compatible tuner or a store-bought television set which is enabled with Hikari TV tuner functionality, etc.
    • To get a Hikari TV-compatible tuner, apply to rent one at the time of making a Hikari TV application.
    • Hikari TV cannot be used with the PNA device on a NTT East/NTT West B FLET'S, FLET'S Hikari Premium (Mansion Type) service as it will result in the dropping of frames or freezing of the screen.
  • Hikari TV is only available to individual members.
  • Hikari TV can only be applied for and used within Japan.

These Hikari TV charges will not be charged for 2 months.

  • Monthly usage charge (opening month and next month)
    Oneuchi Plan : 3500 yen (tax-excluded) /month (excl. tax)
    TV-Osusume Plan : 2500 yen (tax-excluded) /month (excl. tax)
    Video-Zanmai Plan : 2500 yen (tax-excluded) /month (excl. tax)
  • Tuner rental charge (opening month and next month) (* customers renting a single-tuner model: PM-700, M-IPS200, ST-770).

Cautions
  • Eligible Plans are the Oneuchi Plan, TV-Osusume Plan and Video-Zanmai Plan.
  • The Kihon-Housou Plan is ineligible for the max 2 month free campaign.
  • This campaign may have possible period extensions.

Terrestrial Digital Broadcast/BS Digital Broadcast Services

  • To use Terrestrial Digital and BS Digital broadcast services a tuner (*1) is required.
  • When compared to standard terrestrial and BS digital services, there is a slight delay and it takes a little time to change between channels.
  • When compared to standard terrestrial and BS digital services, there is a slight gap between broadcasting the data and it being displayed on the screen. Furthermore, there are cases where standard terrestrial and BS digital services cannot be received, and where audience participation shows that use bidirectional data broadcast services results in such ballot results not able to be sent and results not being shown accurately, it not being possible to participate in lotteries, it not being possible to receive prizes, etc.
  • When compared to standard terrestrial and BS digital services there is a difference in image quality. Furthermore, deterioration of the image may occur. A high definition (HD) capable television is required to view HD images. If you use a standard definition (SD) quality television then you will not be able to view HD images.
  • One-segment broadcasts and the independent data broadcasts of BS digital services can not be retransmitted.
  • For various reasons, you may want to cancel the terrestrial and BS digital broadcast services of Hikari TV. In that case, those customers who wish to continue viewing terrestrial / BS digital broadcasts will need to provide at their own cost a television capable of showing terrestrial / BS digital broadcasts, as well as a tuner and other equipment.
  • NHK subscription fees are not included in Hikari TV charges. You'll need to contract with NHK for a subscription to NHK. Please contact NHK's call center (phone number is 0120-151515) or click here for more information.
Cautions for the terrestrial digital broadcast service available with Hikari TV
  • The NTT East/NTT West FLET'S Hikari Next (*2) service must be used in areas that the retransmission service is available (*1).
  • Two channels are necessary to be able to simultaneously watch a terrestrial digital broadcasted program. In order to watch a program on a television and to record it on a recorder, an additional application is required.
  • Depending on the area you live, there may be differences in the lineup of channels that can be viewed through a direct antenna connection and the channels available through this service.
  • Since the service area of terrestrial digital broadcasting is limited, should you move home or need to or plan to change the line type from B FLET'S or FLET'S Hikari Premium to FLET'S Hikari Next, please contact the Hikari TV Customer Center (telephone 0120-001144).
Cautions for the BS Digital broadcast service available with Hikari TV
  • The BS Digital broadcast service is available throughout Japan.
  • If using a compatible tuner, regardless of the line type (*2) it is possible to use the Oneuchi Plan, TV-Osusume Plan, Video-Zanmai Plan and Kihon-Housou Plan (although Premium channels are excluded).
    • Please refer to the Hikari TV Web site for information about tuners compatible with terrestrial and BS digital broadcasts as well as the areas to which the terrestrial service is offered. Depending on the status of equipment, it is possible for terrestrial digital broadcasts not to be available even in a service area. Your understanding is appreciated.
    • The service is not available to users of FLET'S Hikari Next Business Type lines and NTT East FLET'S Hikari Light lines. Please contact NTT East/NTT West to confirm to which areas they offer FLET'S Hikari Next service.

  • Those with a Hikari TV-enabled TV set or other device will be able to use the Hikari TV service straight away. However, customers wanting to use the channel service will need to wait until they are able to view channels, as follows:
    • Customers living in the NTT East area: up to 1 hour.
    • Customers living in the NTT West area: up to 24 hours.

    On completion of an application, the rental tuner will be sent to those customers who applied for it.
  • Should there be a need to clarify the information supplied in an application, Asahi Net will contact the applicant. Should we be unable to reach the applicant due to the line being busy or some other reason, it is possible for this contact to be delayed and for the processing of the Hikari TV application to be delayed as a result.
