  • I don't understand Japanese. Will I be able to use Hikari TV?

First of all, if you do not read Japanese please do not make an application in Japanese for the Hikari TV service as you may mistakenly apply for something you do not want. Instead, please complete the English-language Hikari TV Application form.
As for using Hikari TV, some of the channels and some of the videos are only available in Japanese; please click here for a list of channels.
Sub-channels for multi-language support are available. There is a button on the remote control for switching between sub-channels so that you can hear another language if it is being provided for the channel being watched. There is no multi-language support for videos.
When looking through lists of videos the categorization of the videos (drama, comedy, documentary, etc) will be in Japanese, as will the title of the video and the summary of what the video is about.
Furthermore when you turn on the tuner you will always use a menu to navigate to the channels/videos you want to use, and that navigation is in Japanese (the words for channel, video, latest information, details, recommendations, ranking, etc appear in Japanese characters).
The setup guide and all other information you will receive with the tuner will also be in Japanese, as will be the monthly magazine, should you subscribe to it.
