| The steps to opening of service: new signup |
|
From application (step 2) to opening of service (step 6) usually takes between 1 to 2 months (Giga Value Type) or 2 to 3 weeks (Mansion Type). Depending on the applicant's equipment, home environment and neighborhood environment, more time may be required to open the service.

Please supply your full postal address, including post code, and if possible a telephone number for the location you want the au Hikari service installed.
If you are wanting the au Hikari Giga Value service, check that your home has suitable
construction conditions. |

| ID issuance |  |
|
An ASAHI Net User ID is issued between 3 and 7 days from your signup.
We don't issue User IDs from
our Web page.
You can use your ASAHI Net User ID to make dial-up connections while you wait for your au Hikari application to be processed. |

| Study |  |
|
| Based on the address you supplied in your application for the au Hikari service, KDDI will check to see if their service can be offered to your location. There is a possibility that this service will not be made available. |

| Result of KDDI study | |
|
If the result is positive
* Giga Value Type *
KDDI will contact you to determine the day they will visit your
home to install their service. Contact will be made by telephone.
You will then be sent confirmation by post. You will also be sent
any equipment that KDDI have to supply you for connecting to the
service.
* Mansion Type *
KDDI will send confirmation by post of the day on which they will open
their service. KDDI will only call you if, depending on the type of au Hikari installation, they think it necessary.
If the result is negative
KDDI will contact you by telephone to notify you of the negative
result. Your application will be cancelled. |

| Construction work | |
|
Giga Value Type
Construction work will take place at your home by a construction company authorized by KDDI, in you presence. The pulling of the fiber-optic cable into your home will be done in your presence. This work will take up to 2 hours. It is possible that despite efforts to install the fiber optic line, it will not be possible to do so.
Mansion Type
Construction work will take place at your building. After the work has finished a letter stating so will be placed in your post box. Usually it is not essential for you to be present when the work is done but, should KDDI think it necessary, they will notify you by phone. |
