About FLET'S Hikari Light

FLET'S Hikari Light is a NTT East/NTT West fiber-optic broadband service offering always-on connection. It offers a two-tiered charging system and is suitable for light Internet users, for example those who use the Internet once or twice a week. There is an upper charge set for this service and so even in months of heavy Internet use there is a limit to how much NTT East/NTT West will charge.

ASAHI Net's FLET'S Hikari Light Course will allow you to connect to the Internet through a NTT East/NTT West FLET'S Hikari Light line (you will have contacted NTT East/NTT West directly to establish a FLET'S Hikari Light contract). ASAHI Net will bill for our Internet service, NTT East/NTT West will bill for their FLET'S Hikari Light service.

*1. The Basic Charge will be billed if a total of less than 200MB of data communication (traffic) is used on the FLET'S Hikari Light line in a month.
*2. The Traffic Charge will be billed if the total data communication (traffic) exceeds 200MB in a month.
*3. The Traffic Charge will be billed directly by NTT East. It will be possible to confirm this through NTT East's Web page.
*4 Data communication (traffic) will be rounded up to the next 10MB unit.

Fixed IP Address Option

ASAHI Net's Fixed IP Address Option is available to users of the FLET'S Hikari Light Family Course. The option is suitable for those who play on-line games, for those wanting to raise the level security of communication between offices using VPN, etc.

A Note About FTTH

FLET'S Hikari Light services are FTTH services. FTTH stands for "Fiber To The Home" and is a high- speed Internet connection provided by a fiber-optic network directly to the user's home. We are using the term "FTTH" to cover all fiber-optic connection services offered by ASAHI Net and our partners NTT East, NTT West and KDDI. These services also include Mansion-type fiber-optic services where the fiber-optic cable is supplied to the building the user lives in but may not extend directly into the user's home in that building; instead LAN cabling or telephone cabling inside the building may be used to supply the service into the user's home.

FTTH services are "best-effort" services, therefore factors including line conditions and Internet congestion will cause the speed to be lower: there is no guarantee for the actual speeds that will be achieved through use of these services.

Special Notes for English Speakers

Here is a list of points that should be considered by English speakers and/or people using computers with English-only operating systems.

• Windows XP/Windows Vista/Windows 7/MacOSX: If you have an English Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or MacOSX computer, you are in luck because the software needed (PPPoE) is pre-installed. Visit our Configuration Guide to find the settings for Windows XP, Windows Vista and MacOSX PPPoE. Please do not install NTT's Japanese software from their CD into your English Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or MacOSX.



• Routers: If NTT has supplied you with a VoIP router, you may configure it to make the Internet connection instead of using PPPoE in your computer. Visit our Configuration Guide for how to configure the NTT VoIP router step by step, in English, with pictures. The documentation NTT supply with their routers is only available in Japanese.



• There is no English-language documentation provided by NTT for this service.
