What is the Green Option?

It is an option that when applied for allows you to purchase Carbon Offsets.

Carbon Offsets

Carbon Offset is a mechanism that addresses the heat-trapping gases such as carbon dioxide that causes global warming, and tries to reduce, or negate, its effect through clean energy businesses, afforestation, forestry preservation, etc. This mechanism tries to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through the conservation of energy. This is a concept that originated in Europe and has recently found its way to Japan.

Natural Energy

Natural energy is energy obtained from natural phenomena such as the sun, wind, water, biomass and geothermal heat. While reserves of fossil fuel energy such as oil and coal is limited, we will not easily run out of the earths natural energy, and it is said that renewable energy can easily and abundantly be obtained.

Energy conservation (fossil fuel reduction) creates value through the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions and, when combined with the value created through the use of natural energy to create electricity, it translates into real environmental value.

ASAHI Net is taking the proceeds from the Green Option charge and through Energy Green, Inc. it is being used to fund power generation through natural energy.

Independent verification and certification of power generation through natural energy is handled by the Green Power Certification Council.

Green Power Certificate

A Green Power Certificate is issued once every six months to report the amount of power generated through natural energy sources (e.g. solar power) from the carbon offsets purchased by ASAHI Net members with our Green Option.
